FollowSo much has ben said about Lance and Livestrong this past week and I can’t keep quiet without sharing my own experience with this outstanding organization that has helped millions of people around the world and despite from benefitting from Lance’s exposure for many years, has never really been about Lance.
For anyone who reduces the depth of service of Livestrong to the yellow bracelets, I’d like to invite you to look at the depth of their work and realize that this movement is exponentially more than that. For anyone who feels that Livestrong is and was about Lance, I ask you to look at their results and realize that it never was. There’s no denying that Lance was instrumental in popularizing and bringing attention to Livestrong, but there’s always been a dedicated team of warriors, a beating heart, who run the place and do the work. These extraordinary human beings have already helped millions of people affected by cancer including: caregivers, survivors, children, adults and the elderly.
It’s easy to go the fast route without stopping to look at what this place is about. So my challenge to you today, is to open to the possibility that things are more complex than we usually make them to be.
